Meet Dr. Justin Chang

Dr. Justin S. Chang is an orthopaedic surgeon at Humber River Hospital, specializing in adult hip and knee replacement and sports medicine. He has a special interest in robotic-assisted total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, complex knee revision, direct anterior total hip replacement, and knee arthroscopy & ligament reconstruction.

Dr. Chang received his medical degree (MBBS) from St. George’s, University of London in the United Kingdom. He then completed residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Toronto and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC).

Following residency, Dr. Chang obtained subspecialty fellowship training in robotic hip and knee arthroplasty under the supervision of Professor Fares Haddad at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) in the United Kingdom. He subsequently moved back to Toronto to complete a second subspecialty fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Chang’s primary academic interests include outcomes of robotic joint replacement, virtual healthcare strategies, and the use of technology in orthopaedic surgery. He has a number of peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters and has presented his research internationally. He also has a special interest in teaching and is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto, Department of Surgery.
